19.02.2023 – TIME LAPSE VIDEOS AND MORE!

Moonlight Hare time-lapse by Neon Wren. Please don’t share without my permission.

Back again sooner than expected with a new update! I’ve not been very sure of myself when it comes to posting content, but I realise that this is something that comes with time and experience.

Here is a time-lapse video of my Hare image that was created back in Dec 2022. It was the first in a series of artwork that I call ‘The Collection of British Mammals’. You can see all the images on my Current Work page.

The image was created on my iPad, using Procreate. One neat aspect about this software is that it can create time-lapses of the art you create in it. It can give you a sense of how you create an image.

These time-lapses have been quite popular on my Instagram page, as they can be used as Reels. These are full-size videos that tend to get more attention compared to posts. I’m not really sure why, but that’s the algorithm for you, I guess.

I’m quite early into my journey creating content as an artist. I think that I upload and create work consistently, but the promotion part is uncharted water at the moment. I’ve only been doing this for about 6 weeks and I’m still finding my feet. If I don’t take risks then I’ll never grow and I’ll never attain my dream.

It’s easy to get unnerved and walk back to where you started when you have been chasing your goals for a short while. I won’t give up, nor will I back down from this challenge. I’ll do anything to create for a living.

I feel like I’m at a point of no return. I don’t want to be an administrator for the rest of my life. At some point you need something that fulfils you – even if you cannot make it your full-time job. We are not wired for the 9-5, in my opinion. Why is it that people waste their lives in jobs they hate – sucking the joy and energy from their lives? It just doesn’t seem worth it to me anymore. I won’t be one of those people for much longer. I’m so done. Sometimes you need to rant once in while and get stuff off your chest.

Anyway, I’ll be back with another post later in the week or next week. Catch you then!

12.02.2023 – NEW BEGINNINGS

12/02/2023

The weather’s warming up, and the days are getting longer. After what seems like an achingly long winter, spring is in the air once more. Not a big fan of winter, as you can probably tell.

I’ve been working hard on my digital art for the time being, while waiting for the warmth to return to my artist space. Many a day has spent curled up in a blanket with a herbal tea in my living room, working on my iPad.

I’ve been working on a series of digital artwork series I’ve called ‘A Collection of British Mammals’ since the end of December 2022. There are over 80 kinds of mammals in the UK – some native, some not. I’ve drawn 9 out of 10 of the most familiar native ones, so I have one left to draw. I may add some more to these in the future, but I’m itching to get back into the studio and create traditional art very soon.

I swing between doing traditional and digital art sometimes, as it depends on my mood and the seasons. My traditional art tends to be a mix of markers, acrylic paint and Posca Pens.

So what’s next? You can expect all artworks from ‘A Collection of British Mammals’ available for print and merch via Redbubble later this February (currently only Hare and Hedgehog are up at the moment). I think that I’ll post a new blog post every other week as well. I’m also on Instagram and I will continue to post regularly on there too. Please watch this space for further updates. I’m fairly new to all of this so bear with me! For now, farewell! See you in a couple of weeks! – Neon Wren
